Let’s talk for a moment about how awesome Liopleurodon is. There are a few species, which all ranged from the Middle to Late Jurassic period during the Mesozoic era, but the most known is L. ferox. These are not dinosaurs (sometimes pinned as such because of when they lived), but marine reptiles that fall into the order Plesiosauria. If you’ve ever watched Walking With Dinosaurs, you’ll remember these guys taking a jump at Allosaurus.

Most fossils are found around Europe, the United Kingdom, and in Russia. Their maximum length is estimated to have been 20 - 25 feet, though that is still debatable between palaeontologists. They were apex predators for their time, having four paddle-like flippers, along with wicked teeth and jaws. I think they’re just as awesome as the Mosasaurs.
